The Vilcanota River, which crosses the Sacred Valley, changes its name to the Urubamba River as it passes through Urubamba. Rafting on this river is an individual adventure divided into the Chuquicahuana–Chillca sections, covering around 15 km with rapids such as “The Tunnel,” whirlpools, and views of snow-capped mountains. The best rafting season is between May and October.
The activity begins with a technical briefing and paddling practice before entering the river. Throughout the journey, in addition to the excitement of the rapids, participants can enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains of the range and the unique vegetation of the Sacred Valley. Many programs include transportation, full safety equipment, snacks, and lunch at the end of the experience.
